The East Coast Mandolin Orchestra (ECMO) was established to provide a forum (1) for professional and highly skilled amateur musicians from up and down the East Coast to join together and share the experience of playing in a large orchestral setting and (2) for audiences to hear the truly unique sound of a 75+ member mandolin and guitar orchestra.

ECMO events are hosted by the Munier Mandolin & Guitar Orchestra. Munier’s conductor, Mark Linkins, serves a s musical director of the East Coast Mandolin Orchestra.

The first ECMO event was held in November 2017, at Rosemont College. After an intensive weekend of rehearsals, ECMO presented a concert along with guest ensemble, the Carlo Aonzo Trio. ECMO presented a set of music from classic Italian Film. More than 325 people attended the concert.

The second ECMO weekend took place in December 2018, when more than 70 musicians gathered in Wallingford, PA, to present a program of holiday and seasonal music arranged specifically for ECMO.

The third ECMO event will be held the weekend of November 2 and 3, 2019. The program is entitled “Woodstock and Beyond: Celebrating the Music of 1969.” 90 musicians have already registered to participate, and the final count will likely be in the 100-125 range.
